Weekend Picking Guide: August 7,8,9

7 08 2009

This weekend we are picking peaches, blackberries, and summer apples. The peaches are near the end of the harvest – this may be the last weekend for peaches. Our summer apples are lovely this year, and their tart, firm flesh makes for excellent pies, pastries and applesauce. Blackberries are at their peak for the next couple of weeks, and our bushes are bulging with ripe fruit for easy picking. If you like fresh basil, we have three varieties for cutting – just ask us when you arrive and we’ll show you where and how to cut.

Be sure to bring some protection from the sun, such as a wide brimmed hat, and plenty of hydration. We provide the buckets and baskets for picking as well as advice for the best results.

See you on the farm!
