This week the Town of Purcellville entered our farm property and began marking/drilling our land for their insane ‘Southern Collector Road’, an ill-conceived plan to build a roadway which the State of Virginia has determined will do absolutely nothing to relieve traffic congestion around here.
The roadway will carve up our land, dividing the farm property, destroying one of our barns, killing over 40 mature apple trees, and exposing our orchard to increased auto emissions. This photo shows the markers and the drilling team, as well as the barn they intend to raze in the background.
What you can do to help stop the Southern Collector Road:
1.) Send us an email at CrookedRunOrchard@gmail.com with your message of support and suggestions; email your opposition to Mayor Lazaro and the Town Council and copy us.
Emailing the Mayor/Town Council:

This may be the last harvest season for these mature trees if the town succeeds in grabbing our land and forging ahead with their plan. This farm is our lives, and it feeds thousands of people locally. Please help us preserve this place for the community and our children’s children!
